Hamilton Island Gets Active for Women's Weekend 27 April 2016 Hamilton Island will host its inaugural Hamilton Island Active Women’s Weekend from 6 –9 May 2016. Held over the Mother’s Day weekend, the Island will host a range of activities and events celebrating health, fitness and wellbeing including sunset yoga, nutrition and relaxation workshops and performance technique masterclasses. Olympic gold medallist and Hamilton Island Ambassador Libby Trickett will host a number of workshops over the weekend and take part in the Island’s annual Mother’s Day Classic to raise funds for breast cancer research. “I’m looking forward to the inaugural Hamilton Island Active Women’s Weekend, helping others get the most out of their active lifestyles and enjoying a Mother’s Day weekend escape with my family in one of the most beautiful locations in the world,” said Ms Trickett. “Whether you’re looking to recharge and relax, find some new tips and tricks to assist with your wellbeing or adjust your training techniques, the Hamilton Island Active Women’s Weekend has something for everyone,” Ms Trickett added. Libby Trickett will be joined at Hamilton Island by fellow Olympian Eloise Wellings, Running Mums Australia Founder Nicole Bunyon, and Women’s Running Magazine Editor Sarah Joyce, who will each host and take part in various events across the weekend. Hamilton Island’s annual Mother’s Day Classic walk and run is expected to be a highlight of the weekend, with Eloise Wellings using her long-distance running prowess to lead the 6.7km run around the Island. Women’s mental health and wellbeing will be an important focus of the Active Women’s Weekend with a panel discussion on motivational techniques and tips, a session on Mental Tools for Active Women hosted by the two Olympians, and relaxation and meditation workshops. The Hamilton Island Active Women’s Weekend has something for the entire family, with Mark Bunyon, Luke Trickett and Jonathan Wellings joining their better halves for what promises to be a humorous and entertaining panel discussion on supportive partners. There will also be a wide selection of activities for families with Moonlight Movies and the Kids Fun Zone opening across the weekend. The Dent Dash, a 4.5 to 10 kilometre run of Hamilton Island’s award-winning golf course, will finish off the weekend with a recovery techniques masterclass afterwards. Visitors wanting an active weekend escape to Hamilton Island can take advantage of Hamilton Island’s local rates which start from $135 per person including ferry transfers.
