Karl’s suit to hang in the Hamilton Island Weddings' wardrobe 26 November 2014 The famous navy jacket and pants worn every day for a year by Channel Nine’s Today show host, Karl Stefanovic is officially no longer his. This morning, Stefanovic handed over the famous threads to the lucky highest bidder, Hamilton Island Weddings’ Managing Director, Rohan Gull, with all auction proceeds going to White Ribbon’s campaign to end violence against women. Mr Gull is the man behind the winning bid of $6,400. However this morning, he announced Hamilton Island Weddings believed the cause to be worthy of a larger contribution, voluntarily increasing the bid to $10,000. “We were so inspired by Karl’s campaign and the Today show’s support of White Ribbon and are truly shocked at the statistics surrounding violence against women in Australia. We saw the auction as a unique way to show our support for the cause and help others get involved. “Hamilton Island Weddings also saw the chance to buy Karl’s suit as a great way for the jacket and pants to live on and continue to raise money for White Ribbon. We're officially putting the call out to all future Hamilton Island grooms, groomsmen and wedding guests to make a donation and wear Karl’s suit at their wedding. "It's the suit that promises to keep on giving,” said Mr Gull. Spurred on by public scrutiny of his female colleague’s wardrobe and appearance, Stefanovic began the experiment to see how long he could wear the same suit on air without the media or public taking notice. After wearing the same navy suit for one year straight, Stefanovic revealed his experiment and announced last week he would auction the suit with all proceeds going to White Ribbon. Stefanovic said on the Today show this morning, “It’s a great cause and we appreciate Hamilton Island Weddings getting on board.” Mr Gull said he will be taking the suit back up to Hamilton Island tomorrow where it will be available for wedding guests to book out immediately with all future proceeds to be donated to White Ribbon.
