Best Job in the World Posted by Reef Magazine - 4 May 2012 You can’t have too much of a good idea. I see that the massively successful Best Job in the World promotion has been adopted by the ski fields in Victoria. A few years back Hamilton Island was at the centre of a marketing whirlwind as a six-month position as ‘island caretaker’ was advertised around the world generating 35,000 applications. Ben Southall from England was the eventual winner and set up residence in a gorgeous 3-bedroom house on Hamilton Island with a pool and (of course) a golf buggy to zoom around in. In return, he blogged about the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef, learning to sail and play golf in the sun and telling the world about how to have a great Queensland holiday. I note that the prerequisites for the winter job include snow-boarding…I think I’d take the sunshine over the cold any day of the week!
