With over 60 activities (and growing) you’ll undoubtedly be surprised by the huge range of holiday fun you can access during your stay… Here is just a sneak peak of some of the activities you might not heard of before: 1) Take an Art Class Colourful artwork painted during one of our art classes. Not only does Hamilton Island have a truly spectacular art gallery with stylist pieces for sale created by local artists and photographers, it also runs daily art classes for all ages and experience levels. Did you know you could be the captain of your own ship? With dinghy hire you are able to set off with your very own crew (aka friends and family - with up to six people allowed onboard). You can chart a course to one of the nearby islands or alternatively sink a line and test your luck at landing the catch of the day. Most importantly, enjoy exploring the Whitsundays at your own pace, your own way, and make a day of it. Pack a picnic lunch, take a bottle of champagne and sightsee the local area. If you do decide to fish and happen to reel in a catch, our pro-tip is to arrange with your hotel or one of the on island restaurants (Manta Ray is a popular choice) to have the chefs prepare it for you and enjoy a delicious fresh seafood dinner or lunch. Make a day of it and take along a picnic lunch. 4) Take a fitness class at our Sports Club The spin room at the Sports Club on Hamilton Island. While many guests to the island know we offer yoga, regular running events (EG Park Run) and general wellness with a range of island hikes and trails, you might not know about our fully equipped Sports Club. It was recently refurbished, is filled with great equipment and if you feel like a group activity you can participate in a range of fitness classes held throughout the day. Balance those holiday vices with a quick and fun session with the team. After all, you only regret the work out you didn’t do! You’ve gone from one suitcase for yourself to suddenly needing to pack the entire house. Our baby’s first holiday takes the guess work out of the planning. To ensure kids of all ages have a fun-filled holiday, we have created a school holidays island passport, which showcases all of the exciting activities to do on Hamilton Island during the school holidays and allows kids to earn tropical stamps for taking part. Take your junior traveler to the Resort Centre to collect your island passport and get into the fun of collecting stamps. What makes school holidays extra special is the additional activities that the island hosts to kept our junior guests busy and entertained. Beyond the huge range of everyday activities, we also offer pizza or cupcake making classes, the junior lifeguard program, the rock climbing wall and a golf clinic. So, when you’re next planning your school holiday visit be sure to book your kids in for some extra holiday fun. Did someone say fun zone time!?! 8) Have a scenic picnic or BBQ IGA has now opened on the island and it’s become easier than ever to enjoy self-catered meals. Gathering your favorite foods, you can easily utilise our picnic and BBQ facilities to have a gourmet picnic or delicious BBQ with your travel companions. Grab your group, sit back with a drink and listen to some live music. If it’s a BBQ you’re feeling like, there are two locations available. Cook up a storm down on the marina at the Herpanas lawn or head to the duck pond, where you can sit back and relax looking out onto the water. Alternatively, pack yourself some nibbles, grab a prepared meal from the Bakery and set off on one of our hikes. There are picnic tables waiting along the hike to passage peak or take a towel and set up a beach picnic down on Coral Cove or Escape beach. You can also head to One Tree Hill to watch a spectacular Whitsundays sunset. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic blanket, your favorite beverage and some nibbles. The best thing about all these options are they are a fun and interesting way of spending time at various island locations and you can tailor it to your own tastes and budget. Driving around the island in your golf buggy has got to be one of the funniest modes of holiday transport you’ve probably ever experienced. Why not up the ante and take the novelty one step further by taking your team, of up to four people on a buggy rally exploring the island. Your team must drive around the island answering a series of trivia questions about Hamilton Island, with each question taking you to a new location. The aim is to get as many correct answers as possible and of course have fun. Drop your answers off at the Sports Club by 6pm and the next day prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and fourth places. Going for a spin around the island to check out the sights.
